A big tower is going to be erected in St Petersburg. The goal is to make it the tallest in Europe. Unesco will resist and also the last working man in the street.
Who is to build it? A gas company. Why? So everybody can say: Look up, it is the Gazprom building!!!
How stupid can you be? Ages ago people were talking with awe about company buildings larger than life. Nowadays, it is better to be somewhat less macho. But Gazprom still lives in the Stone Age. Bigwigs with big cigars. A Russian brand indeed.
If Gazprom said they would build the biggest shopping-and entertainment tower in Europe, which is to be also house Gazprom offices, they will have public support. At least not everybody will oppose them.
This phallic symbol will cost 3 billion Euros and I am sure that not one Euro cent of it will be spent on an honest PR plan. That’s obvious. Because it is already going downhill, and we haven’t even started yet!
My Goodness, what will that bring us?!
Gazprom is an arrogant multinational in midlife crisis. Everybody will have to (want to is not an option anymore) look up with neck breaking pain to see this 403 meter high wonder why in the sky.
And you can bet your life on it, there will be a huge, crystal-clear Gazprom logo glaring down at us all from the tower front.
As a creative director I advise not that the logo be a bit smaller, not at all. I am asking Gazprom to leave it out. It will do miracles for Gazprom’s image.
