Merry Christmas. Or Merry X-Mass?

23. December 2009

Is the mass media age over? No more “the same message delivered to an X amount of people” no matter if they are interested or not? This post is for those who are fed up to see the e-mail box full of "wanna be smart and funny" greetings from people and companies they don’t even know. Merry X-Mass!

Hahahaha! And a top 10 to you NP.... no worries! Can I make you happy/sad with some copywriting i did this X-mass?

I’m in Macedonia, a new Eastern European country for a pitch, far away from my family. All alone in my hotel room. I am reading the client’s brief that states on 20 pages all the old school blah blah & blah and on the backside of the last page of the brief, the client wrote: and we also want some of those new media proposal ideas.

I call the agency: … so what is this… the client does not want anymore banners?

The Creative Director says: no Martin, not anymore… the client says...: we want to have a viral!

Yes, I say, but that sucks up their total budget!

CD says to me: Why? The client says: Why so much money honey bunny for YouTube?

I say: because it takes time to make a good viral!

Silence … the CD speaks in the client’s name: … what would a bad viral cost us?

I say: A stupid viral is a banner these days!

No, that’s no good, what the client wants is a simple new idea.

Yeah ... OK …

And please Martin.., not only a simple idea but also a very smart idea! That’s why you here. We’re paying your hotel bills, we’re paying the flight to get you here, we’re paying the horny woman that wants to fuck and suck your Dutch dick… and you know… money is not a problem ... tell me… what is your idea?

;)

Martin
