Closing debate: Meet the Golden Drum Jury Presidents
moderated by Janez RakuščekWe're all aware that the world of advertising has been changing at an unprecedented rate. The rules of today make tomorrow's obstacles; today's solutions might be tomorrow's mistakes. The boundaries between those expressing the message and those receiving it are rapidly disappearing, and the line separating the real and virtual worlds is as translucent and porous as never before.
In this day and age, the mutual interdependence between different channels and impulses of communication is growing infinitely complex, and the only way for its actors to survive lies in constant and complete reinvention.
In such a world, then, where rules become obsolete a brief moment after they have been validated, how are creative advertising festivals and contests coping - as bodies that can hardly exist without a firm structure? How are they able to separate the good from the exceptional, and the exceptional from the outstanding with any relevance? What can they tell us today, and how useful will this content be tomorrow? And where in all this stands the Golden Drum?
Quite a good number of questions, I know. Allow me to paraphrase a famous philosopher: today, it is more important to ask the right questions than to seek definite answers. Location: Emerald Hall
